Even if explaining that when building a slider ad, it is possible to add elements inside and outside the slider element sounds obvious, it is important to understand how to correctly add and manage the assets within this type of ad.
Follow the steps below to know how to start adding elements to your slider element:
In the ad editor, click on the "+" menu and select the type of element you want to add. For the sake of this article, we'll select "Dynamic".
💡Good to know:
Dynamic elements will always be added inside the slider group. For slider ads, it is not possible to have dynamic elements outside the slider group. Therefore, dynamic elements can't be sorted outside the slider group.
Non-dynamic elements can be added inside and outside the slider group. If a slider group layer is selected when adding the non-dynamic element, this will be added inside the slider element. If no layer is selected or if is not part of the slider group, the element will be added outside the slider group.
Select the dynamic reference you want to add to the ad and click on "Add". As you can notice, the "Index" field is greyed out. That's because indexes are assigned automatically based on the current slide index (Index 1 is assigned to Slide 1, Index 2 is assigned to Slide 2, and so on...).
As shown below, the dynamic product_image element we've added is placed at the bottom of the slider element layers. That means the element belongs to the slider group.
💡Good to know:
It is not possible to add animations to elements inside the slider element or to the slider group.
Elements inside the slider group and its layout are not shared across conditions. Changes made inside the slider group will not apply to the rest of the conditions.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION❗❗
To make sure that when users click on your ads, they're taken to the product website, you need to include the product link URL in your Display Dynamic Slider Ads. This element should have been set up as a "Click Area" when you mapped the feed. Once you've added this dynamic element, you'll notice an additional layer like the following:
Let's add a non-dynamic element now. Click again in the "+" menu. We are choosing "Logo" this time. Note that the layer {feed.1.image-link} is selected. That means that the logo element will be placed inside the slider group. You know an element is part of the slider group when the layer is placed at the bottom of the slider in the layer panel.
To sort out an element outside the slide group, simply grab the layer and drag it to the top. The following modal will show up.
Now that the non-dynamic element is outside the slider element, you notice that the layer is placed on top of the layer panel and that it supports animations.
To add more elements to your slider ad, simply repeat the steps in this article until your design is ready. For more information about managing layers and sorting them, please read this article.
