Have you updated the layout of your Dynamic Social ads but you still see the old layout in the Facebook preview? Are some products displaying the layout of a condition they don’t belong to anymore? Continue reading to know what might be happening.
When you upload for the first time the feed URL Bannerwise generates in your Facebook Catalogue, a product is created per line item in your source feed. If you click on one of the items of the catalogue, you can see more information about the product and among those, a preview/thumbnail of the ad.
Click on the top right icon, you can see all item properties.
Scroll down a bit, there are three interesting URLs to look at:
DA display preview URL: It refers to the thumbnail in Facebook. This product preview is not updated in Facebook when the layout of the product image changes so it can happen that you see an old layout as preview.
Image URL: It refers to the product image that is displayed when the campaign is live. This is the URL Bannerwise generates and updates every time changes are detected in the ad set or/and source feed. This is the only content Bannerwise has an influence on.
Images: It refers to additional images of the product.
To know whether your ads are displaying the correct layout, you need to check the content of the “Image_URL”. As mentioned above, open the product properties and scroll down until you see that link. Simply click on the link, a new tab will open in your browser showing the image.
If the Image_URL shows the latest layout, you’re good to go. This means that Bannerwise has generated the images correctly and updated the product images in your Facebook Catalogue. Even though the thumbnail displays an older version of the ad, it won’t have any effect on the product image that is displayed when ads are live.
If the Image_URL shows a wrong layout, there are a couple of things you can check:
Make sure you have published the ad set again after making any changes to it: modification in the ad design, added or removed dynamic conditions… If the ad set is not published again, Bannerwise will not generate new product images.
Make sure the schedule set up in Facebook has synchronized after Bannerwise has finished generating the latest feed URL. If you want to force an update manually, follow the steps in this article. Once Facebook finishes synching, you should see the updated layout as “Image_URL”.
