You might have exported your banners in a GIF format just to be disappointed that the banners you downloaded are not animated. Unfortunately, most GIF banners actually do not include animations. This is due to the file size required to create an animated GIF. However, note that you can choose "Animated GIF" as an output file so your GIF includes all the animations you added. To read more about Animated GIF, please check this article.

Since GIF is an old technology, it won't provide the same freedom or quality as HTML5. The way we offer GIFs in Bannerwise is as a backup for HTML5 banners.

Let's assume you build a professional animation for your bannerset and now would like to use it in a GIF banner just to realize that the banner you have created exceeds the Kb limit for every network! Take a look at the banner below for example. The banner as a fully animated GIF has around 1800 Kb compared to the 56Kb of the HTML5 version.

(GIF size is 1.8MB. Click here to check out the HTML5 counterpart with only 56KB)

In almost all cases, an animated GIF will be far too large to use in any network.

Banners exported as GIF in Bannerwise will be a collection of static images. One screenshot will be taken per slide and put into a slide show. Each slide will be displayed for 3 seconds starting with slide one and ending with the last slide. The slide show will repeat 3 times before ending on the last slide of your banner. After that, it will display a static image of the last slide.

If you are looking to create banners with animations, HTML5 will provide you with a high quality visual at a compatible Kb size.
